We did the launch party a couple of weeks ago, Judy, in Denver. Had a great time. It was just ahead of launching season two. Had a great turnout. Got feedback from people asking us about, obviously growing up in MINAT, also asking us about current events and asking us about future events. So it was fun to do that. But today we're gonna actually do a little bit of a zip ahead of fast forward and talk about some more stuff that's happened since we left MINAP because people have always asked, does the mayhem follow us or has it continued?
SPEAKER_00The launch party was a great time playing the trivia, and people thought some of those answer options were crazy options, but they were all pretty close to the real thing. So it was a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_01Some of the answer options were super funny. The answers were actually better because it might be pick the craziest thing and go with that. Because we had a couple of people at the launch party that hadn't watched every episode. And I said, Well, when you see the answers, just go with the wacky one.
SPEAKER_00That's absolutely right. It was a great time, great turnout, super fun. Can't wait for season three.
SPEAKER_01Well, the season three launch party is gonna be back in Florida. So Florida peeps, whoever's around in that area, get ready. We're gonna have a big party coming up early next year.
SPEAKER_00Donnie, I know a lot of people always ask you about did the and they ask me, did the mayhem continue as we got older? And especially for you, did some of that bad luck roll on, or was it just something that you grew out of?
SPEAKER_01Judy, I could be that mayhem guy from Allstate. They could actually switch that guy out to put some band-aids and some black stuff on my face, which we've done, we already did that. You did it. I spray painted you, I rubbed oil on my face, we've done that kind of stuff. But I could have a bandaged up face and be the freaking mayhem guy. I'm convinced of it. I've got a recent story from as recent as yesterday, but I actually want to start with my wedding week, the week I got married. And you came to the wedding. This was in Orlando back in the early 90s. Again, what could possibly go wrong? Mom and dad are coming to town, and I'll start with I've lived in an apartment and you could see out the back sliding glass door, my car parked in the parking lot. And I was parked next to a big dumpster. It was the end spot right next to that that I always parked in. And I noticed that there were a lot of bugs in my car and right around my car. Judy, this is Florida. So this is like just wacky little bugs. And I was kind of like, where is this coming from? And I thought, well, maybe it's because I'm next to the dumpster, but you know, I'd never noticed it before, and I'd been parking there a while. Well, one day I'm sitting in the apartment looking out the sliding glass door, and I see an old lady, probably in her 80s, and she's in an arm sling, and she walks up, she's holding something, and she slides it under my car. What? She slides something under my car and then goes away. Well, I go out and check it out, and I see that it's a can of cat food, and she's feeding stray cats and sliding the can under my car. I don't know why my car has to be, you know, the spot that it gets sliding.
SPEAKER_00That's the weird part, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it could just be anywhere. Put it next to your apartment, wherever she lives. Yeah, but your window. Yeah, weird. Well, the next day I'm sitting there and mom and dad are over, and the lady does it again. She slides the can of cat food under my car. Well, I immediately go out there and she's kind of walking away. I grab the can of cat food and I walk over to the garbage bin and I throw it in the garbage bin. And she sees me do it. She turns around, she's in a sling, and she runs up to me and rams into me. And I said, Hey, don't put the cat food under my car. I'm getting all kinds of bugs under my car. Anyway, while all this is going on, I turn around and I look, and here comes her 90-year-old husband. And he's limping at whatever rate a 90-year-old can cruise at. And he's coming right at me. And I'm like, oh my God, what's this guy gonna do? And this guy looked like he's 90, 95 years old. Judy, he rolls up to me and he goes, and as hard as he could, he kicks me in the shin. And I look around, and here's mom and dad looking out the window of the sliding glass door, watching all this stuff going on. Oh my god, I'm being attacked. So I yell back to dad, call 911, call the cops.
SPEAKER_00And sure enough, kicked by a 90 year old.
SPEAKER_01Because I got assaulted by this old dude. So the cops show up, a couple of Orlando police cars show up and they're like, What's going on? I go, Well, this guy kicked me. They're putting cat food under my car. I threw it in the garbage bin. The woman, you know, and then when she rams me, what she said was she turned around and goes, He hurt my arm. He hurt my arm. So that's what prompted the guy to come running up to me and kick me really hard in the shin. Cops are like, Okay, yeah, that's assault. They said to me, What do you want to do? And I said, Well, what are my options? They said, Well, you can press charges and we're gonna arrest them. Oh no. Did grandpa go to jail? Yeah, grandpa's going to jail. Or you cannot do that. And I thought, well, I'm not a dick. I'm not gonna do that. You know, people go to jail for that kind of stuff. Doesn't matter what age you are, you know. What if it was a 25-year-old? So I was nice about it and I said, Listen, I don't want him to go to jail. I don't want him to get arrested. I'm not pressing charges. And that was kind of the end of that. Well, that night I went to work at the radio station, came back at midnight, and as I'm going in the apartment door, taped to the door was a five-page letter from the lady telling me.
SPEAKER_00Five-page letter?
SPEAKER_01Telling me her entire life story about how this happened and this happened, and she's not in her right frame of mind, and she apologized and all that. So at the end of the day, it all kind of worked out. But I thought, again, only me, the week of my wedding, mom and dad in town. I get assaulted by a 90-year-old guy that thinks I assaulted his 85-year-old wife in an arm sling. Again, mayhem follows Donnie. Doesn't matter where, when, what, it just happens.
SPEAKER_00You know what's weird? A lot of people feed cats, okay? So that's normal. You know, stray cats, they feed them, whatever. What's weird is why glide it under your car? That's the weird part. It's just strange.
SPEAKER_01I think the first time I took it away, I might have said something to her like, hey, listen, just don't put that under my car. There's a lot of bugs around here. Go put it over here. And I might have even actually have moved it closer to the garbage bin. Well, she defied that. And the next time came out and basically just slid it under my car again. And again, I don't know why. Why me? Why my car? Cat food. It's horrible. Mayhem.
SPEAKER_00That is weird. And I know there was also a little bit of a brawl at some other event on wedding week.
SPEAKER_01Basically, it was a brawl. So again, the folks are over, and Diana comes home one night and she had her bachelorette party. And immediately she's trying to, without the folks knowing, trying to wave me into the bathroom to tell me something. And I go in there and she's all disheveled and she's got an earring missing. And I'm like, This is preeminent for her bachelorette party. I'm what's going on? She goes, I got in a fight. I'm like, You got in a fight? And she goes, Yeah, I had to beat the shit out of this girl. I said, You had to beat the shit out of this girl at your bachelorette party? I go, what happened? She goes, Well, we were dancing in a circle, and some woman came over and started dancing in our circle. And I'm like, Oh, okay. So that prompted a fight.
SPEAKER_00Outside of the circle of trust, beat it.
SPEAKER_01So during that altercation, she got her earring ripped off and came home. And I kind of was thinking, God, should I even get married?
SPEAKER_00Did you think that?
SPEAKER_01Well, Judy, I get assaulted. 90-year-old folks are in town. I'm marrying this girl. They just beat the shit out of somebody because they came inside the circle of trust, the little dancing circle. And I thought, oh my gosh, what am I getting into?
SPEAKER_00Donnie, I was at the Bachelorette party, and I remember that. So it was crazy. I mean, like I said, circle of trust. Well it's like, boom, that's the end of it. Beat it. Just funny. But I think there was another commotion later on that week, too. But we'll get into that another time. Orlando had kind of some crazy things. It was a weird place. I know you said before in the last episode that your house got broken into. But wasn't there something weird right after you just moved there?
SPEAKER_01Actually, it was Gainesville. I had moved to Gainesville, Florida, so this is before Orlando. And I was working in my nut at the time at Kamo T, quit my job. I'm gonna go back to school, get my degree. I decided to move to Gainesville, Florida. Judy, again, mayhem. A week after I moved to town, literally one week after I moved to town, the Gainesville student murders happened, where this guy kills five college students, five University of Florida students, national news. Sounded like a serial killer thing that ended up being an isolated thing with this guy just basically killing five college students. Well, it happened over a weekend, freaked out the whole town. Well, imagine me again having just moved there from Minot, North Dakota to Gainesville. I'm trying to meet people, I'm trying to make friends, and guess what? Everybody shut down the city, nobody wanted to meet, nobody wanted to talk, and it was just this freaky thing. And I had actually gotten a job right when I moved to town at the radio station, KISS 105 in Gainesville. Again, they were so freaked out about this going on that they paid people to stay at the radio station and sleep overnight so the overnight DJ wouldn't be by himself. So my second or third week in Gainesville, I'm sleeping at the radio station every night because basically there was a serial killer on the loose. And at that time they hadn't caught the guy, and he was still out there, and it was just this weird dark cloud that almost kind of followed Donnie to Gainesville. I actually got interviewed by the Minot TV station, did an interview with me, called me up and said, Hey, can you talk about it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know, gotta be end up on TV somehow over that.
SPEAKER_00That's crazy. And if I remember, was that the one where the lady that worked at the sheriff's office, they could like cut her head off and it was on their something, wasn't that? Or was that another one?
SPEAKER_01So what happened was when the Gainesville PD rolled into this apartment, they opened up the door and the murderer had dismembered some bodies and mutilated some bodies. Well, he posed one of the heads. So when you walked in, that was the first thing you saw. Just like out of a weird, freaking scary movie. This was real life.
SPEAKER_00Didn't it end up being the carpet cleaner? Not to make it too much about that, but it was like, oh no, that was another time in Florida with the carpet clean another killer. Listen, Ted Bundy, no wonder he loved Florida.
SPEAKER_01What happened was they originally thought it was this one guy that uh had assaulted his grandmother, and they basically ruined this guy's life by putting him on the news and saying, This is our number one suspect. That ended up not being the guy. Well, while all this is going on, there's another couple of murders, and it was a carpet cleaner where he had come back to the apartment and killed two girls, and one of the girls was like trying to jump off the balcony and got stabbed, and so two people got murdered. That was different, but again, all happened around the same time. So while I the first couple of months I'm in Gainesville, seven murders in this college town. It was absolutely freaking crazy. The guy they ended up catching, though, was Danny Rawlings, and he was living in the woods outside of Gainesville and was going in and killing people. So he ended up killing five college students. And again, Judy, just moved to town, just moved to Gainesville. What can possibly go wrong? Well, yeah, seven murders. I was even thinking that maybe I could be a suspect because they're like, who just came to town?
SPEAKER_00Who just rolled in? This guy. Probably on the profile list, but uh I watched too much Criminal Minds. When I moved to Florida, there was a serial killer in Seminole. How weird is that? Which was, you know, one of the neighborhoods uh a little ways away. But yeah, just bizarre. Florida had some weird things. Didn't you also in Gainesville have some shooting where you're like low crawling out of your blazer apartment or whatever? Seems like it was a crazy place to live.
SPEAKER_01I'm in Gainesville, living in an apartment, going to school. Well, one night I hear all these bangs and it sounds like gunfire. And I thought, okay, gosh. And it was probably like 20 or 30 shots or firecrackers going off. And I'm like, sounds like it's right behind my apartment. This can't be real. So I end up calling 911, 911, can I help you? And I'm like, yeah, I think I just heard gunshots. It could have been firecrackers, but it's really loud. The 911 dispatcher says to me, Yeah, we've had reports of gunfire. And I'm like, okay. And you know, kind of blew it off. But while GD, when that happened, I literally fell out of bed and I'm laying on my floor. And I thought, okay, I'm under siege here. I'm low crawling in the apartment to the phone to call 911 to say, Hey, I think I just heard gunfire, or it might have been firecrackers. And the lady's like, No, that was actual gunfire. Oh wow. And again, kind of just blew it off. Well, what happened was a couple days later or the next day, I look in the paper, and a car that was one street over behind my apartment got shot up 23 bullet holes in the car. So what I heard was actual gunfire, and it was probably a good thing that I was low crawling.
SPEAKER_00Stray bullet? That stuff happens all the time. Donnie, I didn't have as many like mayhem moments as you have, at least. Uh well, I had some, I guess, a lot of mayhem moments myself with the RB and stuff. But when I first left my not and I moved into Colorado and I got a job, one of the job interviews I had, it was really kind of crazy, but they ask me, and it's just kind of strange because I don't mean to transition from serial killers to job interviews, but it was kind of my story for when I left. But one of my job interview questions was, How fast can you run? And I'm like, What? And they're they're like, How fast can you run? I mean, like, you mean run, run? And they're like, Yeah. And I said, you know, I'm pretty fast. I don't know, I've never timed myself here. And I'm like, What? And well, it was at some juvenile facility. They're like, Sometimes you need to chase a kid down. And I'm like, what? They're like, Yeah, you have to run after them and catch them and bring them back to the facility. I'm like, okay, so the facility's not optional. But when I was getting a tour of the place, also kind of weird, but I hear kind of like your little imitation that you always do. I hear, wah, and I'm like, what is that? Well, there's some girl laying on the ground and they have her like hog tied on the ground, and somebody's like on her. And I'm like, what the hell is that? And they're like, Well, that would be part of your job too. I'm like, okay, well, no, thank you, and left. Crazy.
SPEAKER_01Wow, yeah, I wouldn't have taken that job either. What a funny question. How fast can you run? A 4340? Why?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, and eight dollars an hour.
SPEAKER_01To possibly injure yourself or get sued by somebody that thinks you're being too rough with them.
SPEAKER_00Later on, I became the interviewer for a different company that I work for, and one kind of, you know, you're supposed to be paying attention to people when you're interviewing them. And I was like some fancy trained interviewer. Have you ever interviewed somebody that's kind of weird looking? Or there's something that you can't help but stare at during the interview. I'm interviewing somebody, it's a team interview, and we're like videotaping our interview. You know, this is um one of my early jobs, whatever. This guy looking at a giant growth on the side of his tongue. And I'm like, Tongue? Yeah, and you know, listen, I have a hard time with poker face anyway. I'm like, huh. I wonder if he bites that. I'm like, I couldn't hear anything that he was saying anymore. I'm just staring at this giant weird thing. And I'm like, is he gonna chew that off in the interview? Needless to say, he didn't get the job.
SPEAKER_01Gross. How do you get around that every day seeing that guy seeing oh I see you brought your own snack?
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_01Hey, listen, snack time's like we're not allowed to snack while we're working, buddy. Get that out of your mouth. Sorry. Oh my goodness. Two quick interview things. I gotta tell you what is I'm interviewing people. I'm the hiring manager, and this girl comes in and she's okay looking. Well, she's wearing a low cut and she's got sparkles, shiny sparkles. She put glitter on? Yeah, she put glitter on her chest. It was hard not to occasionally get distracted by the glitter. I wasn't looking at she said that. She goes, eyes up here. And I go, No, yeah, to me while I'm interviewing. I didn't, but I wanted to say, hey, listen, eyes up here, don't put sparkles on your boobs.
SPEAKER_00Maybe she's a pole dancer or something. I don't know. From the night before. That's crazy. But she said it to you?
SPEAKER_01She actually said that to me. Needless to say, this sounded like a future lawsuit. She didn't make it past that stage. One other quick interview story, same position. I'm hiring somebody, and a girl comes in. She's got an older woman with her. And I'm thinking, hmm, what's going on here? So I asked the girl, I go, What's going on? She goes, Oh, this is my mom. I go, Oh, your mom? You brought your mom to the interview? She said, Yeah. And I said, Oh, okay. I go, why don't you have your mom go sit out in the hallway? And she goes, What? No, I brought her in for the to be in the interview. I go, listen, I'm not hiring your mom. Your mom's not under consideration. She's not up for the job. So, mom, go sit out in the hallway, got a chair out there for you. Needless to say, that girl also did not get hired. Glitter girl, mom girl. Both. Oh my God.
SPEAKER_00That's crazy. I had in the last interview thing that I'll say, but I interviewed some guy and he did terrible during the interview. And he sent an email after the interview acknowledging that he did terrible and saying, I might as well have put my answers on a McDonald's rapper. And he said that and was funny. I actually brought him in for a second interview. Just because he acknowledged and had the awareness, kind of crazy, like I said, mom is one thing, glitter girl is another thing. I couldn't overcome the the growth thing of the snack, you know, like you said, but just crazy.
SPEAKER_01We've also referenced Judy that you worked at a Fortune 100 company. We're not going to name it. You did a lot of hiring there, but you also basically on your own recruited a guy that was working at a big box store and kind of gave him a break into the industry that you were working in. And now, years later, this guy is not famous, but is a well-known executive or has done very well.
SPEAKER_00That's exactly right. And uh he's like big vice president now at another company. It was a great story. It was something really cool. But yeah, I found him at Best Buy.
SPEAKER_01What intrigued you about him?
SPEAKER_00I was buying a piece of stereo equipment, which I didn't know anything about because obviously I had that big rack thing that the goldfish committed suicide from before. But this is it was something else. But he could explain it to me in a way that I could really understand. And a lot of our job was always explaining very technical things to people over the phone. And I'm like, you know what? I'm gonna give this guy an opportunity to come in. Uh he did that just exceptionally well.
SPEAKER_01Hey, switching gears, concerts. I've got a couple of concert stories that I want to share with you, but I'm gonna ask you, what was the first concert that you remember? And I think we might have been, maybe, at the same one. I want to ask you, what was the first concert you remember going to?
SPEAKER_00Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids. That was the first one, and we went and our dad took us to that, and it was a great 50s rock and roll, do wop wop kind of concert. It was excellent.
SPEAKER_01It was at the Minot Auditorium. Judy, it was Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids. Loved that band. They did all these 50s songs, and for some reason I was enamored with them. But I remember after the concert being home later that night and being sick and not feeling good. Did you eat a burrito? No, no burritos, no burritos at the concert. I don't think that burrito had been invented yet. But sorry. Judy, they were smoking. And back then you could smoke in the arena. Oh. There was, you know, there was no not no smoking kind of deal going on. It was marijuana, it was cigarette smoke, inhaling all that as a, I don't know, 10-year-old did not feel good after that.
SPEAKER_00Do you remember going to the Charlie Pride concert and what our mom did?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Charlie Pride at the North Dakota State Fair shows up in a white limousine. Immediately a swarm of people surround him, and we're trying to get his autograph, and our mom's with us. She pinches Charlie Pride. She rushes him. She's like, He ended up talking to her because he heard her German accent and he was intrigued by that. So there was a little bit of a connection there. We went from last in line to first in line in regards to getting autographs.
SPEAKER_00Didn't she do that with Globetrotters too? I think we got like Meadowlark Lemon's autograph too, but she was pinching there too. She knew how to she knew how to get attention. But yeah, that was the those were the concerts that I remember besides Donna Fargo.
SPEAKER_01Besides Donna Fargo. The happiest girl in the whole USA.
SPEAKER_00I was.
SPEAKER_01Remember hearing that song on KCJB all the time, and you'd go nuts. Judy, one quick concert story, Orlando, Florida. I'm a big Phil Collins fan. One of my favorite songs is in the air tonight. The radio station I'm working at knows that. The promotions guy comes up to me and he goes, Hey, you want to go to the Phil Collins? It's in the round Orlando Arena. Do you want to go to the show? And I said, I absolutely want to go to the show. Well, he comes up to me like a day later and he goes, Hey, how many, because he knew that Diana worked at a hair salon. He goes, How many people work in the salon with Diana? And I said, I don't know, like 14 or 15 or something like that. He goes, Okay. You know, I didn't think anything of it. Well, the next day I come into the radio station and in my inbox is an envelope, and I open it up, and Judy, there's 30 Phil Collins tickets in there that the radio station gave me so I could take Diana's whole salon to the concert. And we went, everybody was super ecstatic that they got to go to a concert. They were so happy they bought us dinner, drinks, and then the drinks continued at Orlando Arena to the point of okay, maybe had too many to drink. Well, I remember at one point looking over the stairs, and here's Diana on her butt sliding down because she was drinking, sliding down the stairs, had fallen on her ass, and was like sliding down like 12, 13 stairs. That's uh a great concert story from Orlando.
SPEAKER_00That was really cool though, the radio station to do that. I mean, what a nice I mean, you must have looked like big man on campus for sure. Didn't that radio station play a joke on YouTube, prank you sometime?
SPEAKER_01So the radio station, Scott and Erica Mix 105, Orlando, I just met Diana and she's actually sleeping over at my apartment one night. It's 620 in the morning, and we had gone to bed at like 3 a.m. Well, at 6.20 in the morning, the phone rings. Diana answers it. She says, hello, and they say, Is Michael there? It was my radio name, Michael Collins. She immediately hands the phone to me and I go, hello, and I'm all groggy. And the Scott and Erica Morning Show says, Hmm, Michael, who was that? Because a girl answered my phone and they knew I was single. They're like, Who was that? And without missing a beat, I immediately said, I don't know. Let me find out her name. This ended up on a promo later that ran all day on the radio. But they were calling me because they found fingernail clippings on the control board. And they're like, Michael, did you clip your fingernails last night at the radio station? And I'm like, Absolutely not. Would never do that. So that immediately meant then it was the overnight person, the midnight to 6 a.m. person that had done that. And it was a girl. So Again, not my fingernail clippings, but a phone call ended up being a recording that got played on the air all day long. And Diana's at work listening to it. And they played the part where she's like answering the phone.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01And then me going, I don't know who that is. Let me find out.
SPEAKER_00Oh my God. You know, it's crazy. That story is funny to me because you didn't know one that they're pranking you. I'm telling you, in more ways than one, sometimes you remind me of Frazier Crane because there was a break like that on him. So anyway, kind of weird. I just that came to my mind was that prank.
SPEAKER_01Judy, jumping ahead, we're going to go a little more fast forward to current times because you pointed this out in a phone conversation we had the other day with all the bad luck that I have with trips that I take. It seems like the last three or four vacations I've taken or trips I've taken, no matter where they are, Florida, Hawaii gets impacted by some kind of major weather event, and namely a hurricane. And the last time I was in Florida, I was at the beach with Denise, and there's this massive hurricane warning that goes up, and they're going to shut down the entire state. And they're telling everybody, if you don't live here, get out, or if you live on the coast, get inland or move away or do whatever you need to do. So immediately I try to start like booking flights out of Florida. I end up getting an 11 o'clock at night Tampa flight, and they are closing the airport. I mean, shutting down the airport at midnight. So I basically get one of the last flights out of Florida before this big hurricane a couple of years ago. And I had to do some roundabout thing where I had to fly to Cincinnati and then back to Denver. And I got back to Denver at like six in the morning after traveling all night. Well, a couple weeks ago, I go to Hawaii, I go on a trip to Maui, and the same thing happens. You call me up like two days before I'm on the trip, and you go, You do know that there's a hurricane right now in Hawaii, a rare Pacific hurricane that only impacts Donnie's travel plans. I'm like, and I hadn't heard about it, and I was literally, what? Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_00And it was true. Also, I don't know if you remember this, but we were going to meet in Cabo a few years back after the Florida hurricane. Sure enough, there's a hurricane going in. We have to delay the beginning of that trip because of that. So I for sure think you're kind of a bad luck chart. And I think there was also a Vikings game that you were playoff game that you were supposed to go to in LA. I could be wrong, but they there were wildfires or something where they had to move that game.
SPEAKER_01The LA fires. That was just a year ago or a couple years ago when the Vikings had Sam Darnold. I've got reservations in LA. I've got tickets to the Rams Vikings playoff game. They ended up moving the game to Phoenix. So that got impacted by that. And the Cabo thing, you're exactly right about as well. I think we were supposed to fly in on a Friday, and we ended up flying in. You know, luckily, we got delayed only by a day coming in there. Hurricane in Cabo, Hurricane in Florida, hurricane in Maui, wildfires in LA. What else can go wrong?
SPEAKER_00I always joke and say, hey, if Donnie asks, brings the screwdriver to your house, can I help? Can I borrow your car? The answer is no. It's getting to the point when he says, Can I come visit? You want to go on vacation together? If the answer to that's hard, no. That would be a big bat zero. We don't want anything.
SPEAKER_01And then even if I do get to come along, like the road trip up the Mayanut, do we let Donnie drive? Yeah. The answer. No, no, we're not going to let Donnie drive that. Judy, real quick, one other thing. Yesterday, 24 hours ago, I'm riding in the Denver Century Ride. Bicycle ride, 50 mile ride. I did the half century. You can do 100 or shorter than that. And I was going to do the 50 mile ride. This is my first official ride. I bought a brand new bike this year, gorgeous bike, road bike, and I'm riding on the Denver Century ride. Well I'm at mile 38, coming down a hill under 225 in Denver, and there's a big rut in the road, unmarked. Blew out my front tire, bent both rims, couldn't finish the ride, had to get picked up by a rescue lady named Donna in a pickup that basically threw my bike in the back of her pickup and said, All right, I'll take you to the finish line. And again, only Donnie goes into a bike event, a ride or a race, and has to cross the finish line in the rescue truck.
SPEAKER_00You sent me the picture at the start of the race, all happy with your little helmet on.
SPEAKER_01Little? Judy, it was a big helmet. There's that word little again.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. Big helmet, big head. Okay. Um, so you send me that, and my response was, no bears.
SPEAKER_01Judy, yes. This is my last two events. I went on a hike near Colorado Springs like a month ago and encountered a bear. And that ended the hike immediately. And it was a big black bear. And there's been record bear sightings this year. So again, that might not be an anomaly. Donnie sees a bear, but last hike I'm on, encounter a bear. I go onto a bike ride, blow out tires, mayhem continues to follow me. Next week I'm gonna contact Allstate and see if they need a new guy to be the mayhem guy.
SPEAKER_00It could be you. I always get asked, Donnie, about questions about my boat, RV, because they're like, oh my God, you had like a lot of bad luck with that stuff. And I'm like, well, well, some of it wasn't bad luck. Sometimes things just happen. I remember, and when you go camping, part of the fun part of going camping and RVing is you go with your friends and it's like a little village. There's an RV here, an RV there, a camper here, and everybody kind of knows everybody. Denise and I are sitting at the campground watching, and I have, by the way, and the shorts are gonna matter because I have the cutest shorts on ever. I was obsessed with them, and they're gonna be important. But we're sitting there, everybody's drinking, and I said, Hey Denise, why don't you go kick those flamingos that are over in front of that RV? So she's like, What? I said, Yeah, go kick those, go kick those flamingos. So anyway, she goes running over there and boom, kicks these plastic flamingos and they go flying. Obviously, the person gets pissed whose flamingos they wear. Well, they come over with these glow stick things, snap them, and are throwing glow stick juice all over my cute shorts. Obviously, I get pissed, it's my cute shorts that are ruined because they now are stained with this glow stick juice. I go back to my RV, I'm all pissed off. Well, the person whose flamingos at work comes over, whap, whap, whap, and comes in there. I'm all pissed. I take my toothpaste, thone all over the guy at the door. Well, all of a sudden, there's like pista cops going on. We're rolling around. He basically almost rips off the door to the R fee. It's total chaos. And I'm super pissed. I'm pissed at Denise. I'm pissed. I'm throwing golf clubs out the RV. It's all kinds of chaos. Anyway, things settle down later on next morning. I'm outside smoking, drinking coffee with Denise. Well, here come the cops rolling out. They're like, hey, everything okay here? And we're like, yeah. And look at them like they're crazy. They're like, Well, was there a domestic disturbance here last night? And we're like, What? Yeah, with like the maybe the people over there at the other campground. And we're like, no, there was nothing. Anyway, then they drive off and we're just casually enjoying the rest of our morning.
SPEAKER_01Low stick juice? I've never heard of such a goofy thing.
SPEAKER_00Well, those are really popular when you're camping. Yeah, you know. Anyway. And so anyway, that was kind of one of my other stories. And then one other little crazy thing I have to say. I always kept my boat at this marina. Well, there's giant sailboats, those tall, whatever those things are that hold the sails. And then I have a lower profile boat. I go to get on my boat. There's a big black mark on it. What the hell is that? It got struck by lightning. And I'm like, are you kidding? All these boats, all these big things that lightning would normally strike, but lightning strikes my boat. There was something with the boat, there was something with the RV all the time.
